V-Diet 2 : Day 11

Velocity Diet Log No Comments

Today was pretty easy, it just flew by and actually at lunch time I was shocked I had so many shakes left to go. I am very tired though and I missed BJJ again. Instead I went to the shops to get some gloves, some slippers and a beanie. They didn’t end up having any wicked slippers so I’ll check out the shops tomorrow.

I’ve noticed more vascularity coming through on my forearms, upper arms and shoulders which is good because what I did have pretty much went away when I started the diet due to the lack of carbs. I reckon it’ll be great when I start adding the carbs again, also it’s only almost half way through the diet run too so I’m looking forward to seeing the changes to come.

So not much new to report really, things are just going pretty smoothly. I am really looking forward to the weigh in on Sunday as I feel much leaner already.

V-Diet 2 : Day 9

Ouch, I feel so tired and foggy. BJJ smashed me from start to finish I just wasn’t there for the entire class and I got smashed during the rolling partially due to my mind being screwed and partly due to me being physically dead tired. I don’t know whether to attribute it to the diet, the skipped meal, the lack of sleep on the weekend or what, I guess we’ll know by Thursday at the next session.

I missed a shake around lunch time and could feel the one I had before BJJ sloshing around in my stomach when I was rolling so that wouldn’t have helped!

Other than that everything is very routine now and I’m full all the time. The stomach rumbling has gone away and has been replaced by coldness.

I am cold pretty much all day now and have to wear jeans, t-shirt and jacket while my friends are in shorts and a t-shirt and I’m still cold. It’s really pretty bad at the moment I had knee high thick socks on too but my extremities are still cold and so that makes me feel pretty cold and shit. Drinking a fair bit of hot green tea seems to help a bit though.

Weights were fine this morning I increased weight on a few things and chin ups have become surprisingly easy! I just went to do a few on Monday night and knocked out seven (7) without any problems where as my previous best was about five to six (5-6) and before this V-Diet run it was about four (4) so that’s pretty cool!

I went to lunch with my friends today to celebrate a friends birthday and the food was pretty good, nice salads and great steak sandwiches. I had a Coke Zero and missed my shake by an hour but in all honesty it was pretty easy, the thing that bothered me the most was the cold. The thing I wanted the most was the spinach and chick pea salad but minus the oil they had on it. There were lots of chips, lots a aoli and so on and that I could have definitely given a miss to.

I think I definitely need to get some more sleep and will be trying to do that tonight. It seems like either being super tired, or the removal of the Cytolean has gotten rid of the crazy thing of getting up in the middle of the night ready to go.

Last night I wore a pair of jeans I bought two years ago and since added weight to myself. I had definitely gotten to the point of thinking they would never fit but couldn’t throw them out as they were $100 jeans. They fit, and well. They’re loose in the waist but tight in the thighs. I kinda like that though, I have big legs. I have a same brand pair of jeans in a size smaller that almost fit in the waist so I think I’ll have two awesome new pairs of jeans to wear by the end of this cycle.

Anyway, things are going very smoothly and liking the results.

I almost stayed in bed this morning, I think I still had a bit of sleep to catch up on from the weekend but I ended up jumping out of bed and this usually means that I will just get going. Once I make the decision to get up I just roll straight outta bed, into PJs and off I go.

Weights felt very good this morning and I increased my squat quite a bit and most back exercises really felt good. I’ve been concentrating on form for a few weeks and though I decreased my weights initially they’re all now higher than when I was really just doing it badly. I feel like doing things properly is starting to really pay off.

The ride to work was hard and I think I have to admit that I don’t have the same energy I did before the V-Diet. I mean for typical exertion and going out and staying up I do have that sort of energy but when it comes to physical exertion such as exercise or climbing stairs I really do feel gassed and sluggish most of the time. You just have to push through it.

I wasn’t hungry at all today and accidentally missed the lunch time shake. This did setup a situation where even though I’d had the lunch time shake I was feeling hungrier than I would have about an hour later. I had my arvo shake though and this was all fine.

The ride home again wasn’t that great, but it wasn’t terrible either. I just don’t seem to have the real push I would have had before.

I put on a pair of jeans I was wearing last week that were a bit loose but not that much, they were just not even hanging on me it was like I sat inside them with a gap all around the waist. They look big and are probably 2-3 sizes too big for me. Still they’re comfortable and I’m not out to impress anyone at work. Still it was really surprising to see such a dramatic drop in size so quickly.

So everything is going well, I’m well into the swing of things. Tonight is coffee with friends so I’ll have tea and coffee and come home to a shake and then hit the sack. I need some sleep!!

V-Diet 2 - Day 7

Well this day was pretty easy and I really feel into the swing of things. One thing I do notice though is that I feel pretty sluggish when anything above normal exertion is required. Walking up a hill, or up stairs for instance, or going for a run; I feel sluggish and like there is no reserve there. A few times during the day I got up a bit quickly and felt light headed but my mate was complaining of the same thing and it could’ve been residual from the big Friday night.

I went for a run in the morning, just 7km and not at a high pace, luckily the other guys felt pretty shit too. I really had to push myself the entire way which was draining and unusual, it’s usually quite an easy run.

After the run we went and had breakfast as this amazing place called Sensations. They really cater to a wide variety of dietary conditions. Most of their menu can be made gluten free and they sell a wide variety of high quality gluten free and lactose free products. They also do a no-carb breakfast which is some veges with salmon, aoli, eggs and hollandaise. I however had tea and coffee as I’d planned ahead and had a shake just before heading out. This didn’t bother me as I watched my friends eat some really delicious food.

After breakfast I went home for about an hour then headed over to the BJJ tournament. I wasn’t competing as I just couldnt’ get motivated for it and given my tiredness it probably was best that I was just spectating. Our guys did well and a few of us headed out to get some food and drinks. I’d brought a shake so I had that while the other guys had some decent looking grub and some beers.

When I got home I had my HSM.

The HSM was 300g of Kangaroo, 300g of broccoli and cauliflower, a zuchini and some onion and chilli. I fried the onion and chilli then added the zuchini and fried that for a while until it was browned. Then I fried the steamed broccoli and cauliflower in mustard and mustard seeds. I then cooked the kangaroo medium rare and ate it all. It was delicious. I remember the last run I definitely dug the veges more than the meat and this time was no different. I was loving the raw zuchini and balsamic as I cooked.

After the HSM I watched a movie then I had my peanut butter the casein and then hit the sack not long after that.

It has been an awesome week and an awesome weekend. I’m looking forward to the coming week and getting into the 80’s weight wise.

V-Diet 2 : Measurements 2

Measurements, Velocity Diet Log No Comments

So it’s been one week of the diet and my measurements are really, really surprising. Surprisingly good!

I thought maybe I’d be around the 92-93kg mark at best but it seems I had way more water weight on me than I thought. Obviously some is fat, some is water but an 8kg drop is definitely mostly water.

I’m well on my way to my target (under 90kg and 10% BF) so without futher a do.

Measurements:

Weight : 90.8kg (-7.7kg)
Waist : 87.0cm (-6.5cm)
Hips : 101.0cm (-4.0cm)
Chest : 100.0cm (-4.0cm)
Thighs : 61.5cm (-2.5cm)
Calves : 41.0cm (-1.5cm)
Shoulders : 122.0cm (no loss)
BF% : 11.3% (-1.6%)

So yeah, good loss overall and I should easily get under 90kg by the end maybe even closer to 85kg.

Today was both easy and hard.

Having gone out the night before and had some help staying awake I wasn’t very hungry at all today, but I knew I had to keep downing those shakes unless I wanted to lose muscle. So I made sure to get the shakes in and stay on schedule.

I only had an hours sleep in about 40 hours so that was really not good and I plan to do some catching up on Saturday and Sunday nights.

It’s hard to say if I have less energy than I did before but I definitely was able to dance the same, keep going and stay awake the same as before. Having an eating regime also meant I didn’t start chowing down on whatever was available which is what I would tend to do. I’d justify it because I’d been awake and dancing for ages. This time I just kept having the shakes and it all worked out well. Instead of feeling shit about my eating and everything, I felt great!

I ended up going to see a friend and then going to celebrate a birthday at the pub. I drank water, coffee and tea and didn’t look at any of the food and really want it. The thing I wanted the most was the Pumpkin, Beetroot, Walnut and Feta salad. Instead I’d just had my shake and I was happy with coffee and water.

I got to bed early-ish and will see how I feel about running tomorrow. Not hanging out for the solid meal but definitely will have it tomorrow.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein Vanilla

Product Reviews No Comments

Damn this stuff is good. Mixes great, tastes beautiful, doesn’t froth and is perfectly thick!

It doesn’t quite mix as well as the chocolate version but still after 10 seconds or less it’s all done. The taste is a bit sweet but not at all sickly sweet and there is a very weak vanilla taste to it. It’s nicely thick as one serve in about 500mL of water so it’s very filling which is perfect for the Velocity Diet.

Really this is the best vanilla flavoured protein powder I’ve had and mixing it with the Dymatize Butter Toffee makes that stuff bearable.

I’d reccomend th Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein in Vanilla or Chocolate to anyone looking for a long lasting protein.

A strange thing happened last night. I went to bed at about 10:30pm and then I woke up as usual, went to pee and started getting changed to go for a walk. At this point I happened to glance at the clock and it was 12:15am, I’d only been asleep for almost two hours. Very strange. I went back to bed and then proceeded to get sleep in hour chunks which meant I woke up a few times before getting up.

The walk and weights afterwards were fine but I was extremely tired when I was at work. By 9am I was falling asleep in front of the computer so I took a sample Cytolean capsule I got and was wide away by 9:30am. That actually lasted until about 2pm and then I was starting to feel sleepy again. I’m going to try it again next time I’m tired and if it works again I’m going to buy a bottle, they’ve been really good so far.

Hunger today was pretty much non existant and it only struck me while I was waiting for the train at about 6pm that I hadn’t had any food today, only shakes! It had become quite normal to me. I’m also past the half way mark on the first week which came and went really quickly.

I went to the shops today and bought some new clothes and some psyllium and chewing gum. My mouth has been really dry these last couple of days and I have had the bad taste of ketosis from time to time after exercise but the ketostix aren’t showing that I’m in ketosis. Either way my mouth tastes gross and the chewies fix that and the dry mouth so no worries! The trip to the shops was easy actually and while there were heaps of wicked smells and lots of specials on chocolate etc I didn’t even think about it past a secondĀ  of thought.

The clothes I bought I tried on at the store and the first sizes I picked up were either too big or the one I got that I thought would be too small was actually fine. I really liked one of them, the other was just weird so that’s good too. Definitely losing size this week it’s easily showing in my jeans and t-shirts.

So all up very good so far, over the hump of the getting into it and the schedule has become quite easy now.

Gaspari Nutrion Cytolean

Product Reviews No Comments

I have always been skeptical about ‘fat burning’ products, though I really would love to try an ECA stack but unfortunately in Australia Ephedra and it’s related products are all banned. Given that this is supposed to the the fat burning stack and anything else is just making do I hadn’t given anything any thought.

In my last order I got a sample pack of Cytolean, three (3) capsules in a nice little pack with some instructions to take 1-3 daily. I thought I’d just take one and see if that made any noticeable difference to anything.

On taking the first capsule (and hte capsules are very cool looking) yesterday I did get a noticeable improvement in energy and wasn’t hungry for a good few hours. I ate mainly because I knew I should keep the schedule. This anti-hunger wore off probably about 4-5 hours later. The energy I didn’t really notice wearing off because it was so smooth. I wasn’t jittery and buzzing I just wasn’t at all sleepy or tired. It was more of an anti-tired thing than a pro-energy effect.

This morning I was literally falling asleep in front of the computer, I was dozing off while typing it was that bad so noticing the capsules sitting there I thought this was a good test to see if I got any energy. Within about thirty minutes I was not even remotely tired and I’m actually a little buzzy in my cheeks and feeling a bit like I’ve had too many stimulants, but not in a bad way. I’m not remotely thinking about food I’m having the check the clock to make sure I don’t miss my shake.

I mean I’ll try it again tomorrow but at this point I’m willing to buy a bottle of these to try them out on an extended basis. They’ve definitely turned me around on the topic of fat burners, energy tabs and appetite suppressors.

So I’m sitting here feeling not the least bit tired, having a bit of a buzz and feeling good about things.

I’m rarely comfortable suggesting products where I can’t absolutely say that it works or it’s a good product, I can only say that so far these things are definitely working a magic on me that I didn’t expect. Very glad I got this sample!

V-Diet 2 : Day 3

Velocity Diet Log No Comments

This was my rest day so I started the day with a coffee, whey protein shake and a 90 minute walk, by the end of this I was already feeling a bit tired. Then I got changed and jumped on the train to work. After work I rode my bike home then I took it easy and got an early night.

The ride seemed easier than usual but I’ll wait for a few more rides to see if it’s the diet or just a once off thing.

Sticking to the diet is proving to be very easy at work and then a little more mentally difficult at home. I haven’t come anywhere close to slipping though. It just means I will probably go out a bit more or get to bed earlier.

So, so far so good and I think I’m already feeling smaller in the waist, legs and chest but we’ll see come mesurements on Sunday.
