After The Diet, Measurements
No Comments
These are from last Monday, I just forgot to post them. I’m actually the lightest I’ve ever been and it feels good. I reckon 3-4kg would put me at a level of leanness I’d be happy with. That’s why I’m going to do another V-Diet run, some weight loss and some habit re-adjustments.
Measurements :
Weight : 92.6kg
BF % : 10.4%
Waist : 86.5cm
Hips : 100.0cm
Thighs : 62.0cm
Arms : 33.0cm
I’ll be changing my measuring day to Sunday morning from now on as it’ll be the day I have my solid meal and generally the day when I will end up having a few carbs when not on the V-Diet. I tend to have a decent breakfast after running on Sunday and then have some healthy carbs in the afternoon.
So V-Diet here we come!!

After The Diet, Velocity Diet Log
No Comments
I’ve been steadily losing fat and gaining muscle since my last run of the velocity diet but I have picked up a few bad habits to go along with my good habits too. I’m still eating lots of veges and salads and my meals are almost always good but I’m also having a bit of bad food on the side and the carb sources aren’t as good as they could be when having a bit of a cheat.
I’m going to use the Velocity Diet to try and remove some of the bad habits and bolster the good food habits I got last time.
To that end I ordered the required protein powder today and will buy the necessary flax seeds and peanut butter on Thursday night. Then I’ll weigh in on Sunday morning before running and start the diet on Monday morning.
So, the next V-Diet log will be running from 11th of May 2008 and will go as long as I think is necessary. I’d like to do at least 21 days to try and get rid of the bad habits again so at that point another week isn’t any issue.
This week I will probably be a bit easier on the restrictions of food but nothing crazy.
It’s going to be interesting to see if things are much different this time around.

After The Diet, Changes, Notes

One morning this week I woke up and had great definition in my top two abs and some really noticeable definition to the side of them too, it was a vision I guess of what can be soon.
This week I definitely have noticed the veins on my forearms coming out more and the vein growing across my right shoulder and chest.
Veins on my thighs have become more noticeable as has the changing shape of my things from blocky round things to having some muscular shape especially tapering into the knee. Squats and especially half squats are I think what has helped here a lot. I’m increasing definition while increasing size so I the muscle is really growing here.
There has been some noticeable changes in definition to the upper arms and shoulders as sometimes you’ll catch some definition between the delts on the shoulders rather than just roundness. Tricep horseshoe is starting to become visible too and the upper arm is becoming defined at just ordinary relaxed state.
Back is another area where sometimes I am surprised when I see myself. I think another couple of weeks of hard work will really pay off in this area. Much more definition in the traps and lats is what I’m noticing.
So the changes are still coming, they just aren’t so huge anymore. A little more definition here and there, a new vein, it’s slow but it’s worth it.

It’s been a wonky couple of weeks lately, I’ll freely admit I fell off the rails a little bit this last week, over the weekend to be specific. Very bad old habits crept back into my eating and I’m tempted to do a week of the V-Diet again after my friends’ wedding this weekend. A bit of a weight loss thing but also just to nail away any bad habits that were creeping back.
It’s funny after three months of such strictness how a little crack can turn into a bit of a crevice. I’ve given myself this week to knuckle down though and I’ll see the results of that and make a decision on the V-Diet thing.
Even though things were a bit out of whack I did manage to lose a bit around the waist and increase muscle mass and decrease fat mass according to the pinches. Hopefully by this week will see me dip into the 92.xkg mark and drop another 0.5 to 1.0cm off my waist.
Measurements
Weight : 93.9kg (+0.5kg)
Body fat : 10.5% (-0.5%)
Waist: 86.0cm(-1.5cm)
Hips: 100.0cm (0.5cm)
Chest: 100.0cm (0.0cm)
Thighs: 62.5cm (+0.25cm)
Arms: 33.25cm (+0.25cm)

My best mate is getting married next week and as such I’ll be in a suit. I went and got my suit fitted earlier in the year, about mid way through January and knowing that I have dropped a lot of weight I thought it prudent to go and get refitted earlier rather than later. No surprises thanks.
So I dropped from a 42R pants to a 32/34 (she said if I lose any more weight they’ll probably drop me to a 32) and from a 46″ jacket to a 42″ jacket.
I don’t really have any pictures of me at my current size, and while I think I look roughly the same, probalby because my head is still catching up, one of my friends has said that my facebook pic doesn’t look much like me at all. I’m sure there will be plenty of pics at the wedding though, and in a suit too so you can’t really look that bad can you ?
So there are the losses in concrete. Hopefully on Monday I’ll be around the 92kg mark. That’ll mean I’m well on target to meet 90kg by my birthday!

After The Diet, Cheats

Today was about a cheat day, I ran a 10km fun run over here called The Bridges and met the time I wanted to run quite easily. Given my preparation was absolutely shocking (down to the point of forgetting my running shoes!), I was pretty happy to sneak in under my goal time. As with any fun run there are definitely blockages to running your best time so all in all I was happy.
I don’t like to reward myself with food these days and that’s not what this was, essentially I figured I’d been pushing myself pretty well for the last three months, I was on target and doing well and I had a tough three weeks in front of me to try and meet my goals body-wise. With all of this in mind I made the decision that today would be a cheat day and I would eat a lot of junk food. I can’t say that I missed it really though it was kind of good at the start I definitely bought way more than I could possibly eat.
I put everything into the tracking program I used and it came in at 6500calories for the day. That’s about three times what I normally eat in a day. My thinking behind this is that I’m getting fairly lean and a high calorie day from time to time will be good to push my metabolism up and just shock the body a little bit. Sure I’ll put on a bit of fat and water weight but that’ll all be gone over the next few days.
I’m not going to be doing measurements tomorrow as they’ll be skewed but I’ll be back on task for next week.
I don’t see this as a hump or falling off the wagon as it was completely planned. I now have three weeks in which I’d like to drop 2-3% body fat and really see my abs come through. I see today as a part of that plan rather than a set back.
My eating over the next three weeks will be as strict as humanly possible. I’ll outline the plan soon.

After The Diet, Measurements

I was pretty slack this week and also I had to consider that I weighed myself last week after a night out dancing like a maniac. I stayed as well hydrated as I could but it was by no means a normal weigh in situation.
On the plus side things seem to have stabilised as far as no more weight gains due to creatine or increased carbs and if anything I ended up gaining muscle mass this week with increased protein intake and workouts. Body fat tells the story.
No massive drops in size this week though an increase in weight and decrease or stagnation in size does suggest some more muscle and the calipers proved that out. It’s great when everything is lining up so you know your measurements are good.
I’m reaching my goals right now so no need to be doing anything crazy like hitting the V-Diet again. I’ll just take it slowly and reach 9% bit by bit.
Measurements
Weight: 93.4kg (+0.3kg)
Body fat: 11.0% (-0.9%)
Waist: 87.5cm(-0.5cm)

Chest: 100.0cm (0.0cm)
Thighs: 62.25cm (+0.25cm)

This week I noticed that there are more veins coming out on my shoulders and arms, also in my upper thighs veins are starting to become visible. These are all just while in a normal state, not while pumped after exercise or a workout. To be honest with the reduced carbs I’m not sure workouts actually make a huge difference to vascularity like they used to. I do notice though after a carby meal that veins will become fuller.
So the big ones I noticed this week is a vein on my left shoulder that is like my right shoulder has had for a while. It’s quite noticeable now though it might take another week to be there all the time. My right shoulder has begun to have veins running across the top of my chest and also some more on the side of the shoulder running down the arms.
I’ve also noticed crossing veins on the bicep from time to time rather than just the big one running down the length of the arm. Also veins on my forearm are plainly visible now which was surprising to me, also the smaller ones on the underneath of my forearm are beginning to be more visible more of the time.
Veins on my upper thigh are quite easily visible now though they’ll take longer to truly come in.
Upper abs are still around the same point, I don’t think I’ll notice much difference until I hit single figure body fat. I’m pretty sure I’ve read a couple of times the main differences are 16%, 12% and 9%. I probably have two to three weeks to go to see a major difference again as definitely there were changes at around 16% and 12% last week.
So most of the changes at the moment aren’t really muscular and definition but vascularity as they have less fat between them and the skin.
I’m still on track without launching into another V-Diet run as I’m only 3kg off my goal and I have four weeks to get there. I’m really hoping by next week I’ll have hit the low 92’s and that will put me in real spitting distance of the win.

Today in the mirror while stretching my arms up to do something I caught some definite stomach definition. Top two abs are peeking through as they say. Yes! I’m on track too my current body fat percentage is about 12% which is about right for seeing what I’m seeing.
So I said I’d see what I wanted to do at 12% and what I want to do is keep losing body fat and maintaining muscle mass which is what I’m doing at the moment. I’m dropping very low amounts of muscle each week for about a kilo or more of fat and I’m happy to continue doing this until I’m at 10% which should be well within the time frame I set.

I did expect a drop this week as I’d been super strict with my eating, increased protein, reduced carbs and fats slightly and the gain due to creatine and carb increases I thought would have settled by now. I’m happy this proved to be right and I had drops in the important areas and I noticed changes in the mirror.
I’ve changed my weights to more of an overall volume setup. Previously I was doing most exercises for maximum weight to failure but now I’m doing 4×10-12 for most exercises except bodyweight exercises like dips and chin ups. This seems to be paying off and my body is feeling a bit punished. My chest especially was sore for a couple of days afterwards.
Anyway I’m definitely noticing changes week to week now and although in the grind I know I can reach my goal.
I saw noticeable changes in my chest and legs, this has shown in chest measurements but not in my legs. Also my waist hasn’t reduced so I think that my measurements last week were a bit of cheating for ego’s sake. However also these measurements were taken after only a few hours sleep after a night of dancing so everything could still be a bit pumped. Next week will be a better indication.
As always the drop in BF% and the changes in the mirror are the best indications of forward progress.
