Day 15
January 21, 2008 8:50 am Velocity Diet LogMeasurements
I thought I’d be under 100kg this week (a 4kg drop for the week) but I’m not. It’s a bit disappointing but I’m concentrating on this coming week now! I’ve down the bracketed measurements as firstly since last measurement and then from the beginning.
Weight : 101.8kg (-2.0kg, -5.0kg)
Waist : 98.5cm (-1.5cm, -8.5cm)
Arms : 34.5cm (-0.25cm, 1.5cm)
Chest : 106cm (0.5cm, 4.5cm)
Thighs : 66.5cm (0.5cm, 4.0cm)
Calves : 41.5cm (1.0cm, 2.5cm)
Exercise
I did my typical weights session this morning for chest and arms. I’m not putting any weights on at this stage and I’ve changed to a higher reps per set style when I started this diet so the weights are actually down, I’m just doing more volume. I didn’t feel weaker in anything and I’m recovering better than I was last week. I think it definitely was due to having more sleep!
The ride to work was awesome, I got passed very early on in the ride by another kitted out rider (though he was wearing the lycra and all that) so I wasn’t warmed up yet and it’s a long, slight incline at the beginning. I kept pace the rest of the ride and could have overtaken but I backed off as I didn’t want to enter a battle like some people will do. The last hill of the ride was so easy, I think it’s due to the weight loss but maybe also the squats I’ve started too. I powered up it rather than just making do.
General
I was really hoping to be under the 100kg mark today, I’ve been working so hard and stuck religiously to the diet. It’s disappointing but I’m concentrating on this week instead of last week and I will be under the 100kg mark by next Monday!
I slept for almost twelve (12) hours last night, I must’ve really needed it. I think being up for almost two days really took it out of me. I really took care of making sure I was being fed the entire time though so hopefully there was minimal to no muscle loss there.
I’m still in ketosis, I’ve taken it out of the sub headings because it’s no big deal now. If I drop out I’ll let you know. I know how it feels now so I’ll only test after carbs other than that I’ll assume I’m in it.
I was thinking that I’ve heard it said many times that you should stick to the diet religiously and that means low end cardio and weight training three times a week. I do weights three times a week but I ride as hard as I can for about 40 minutes five times a week, do BJJ twice a week and run on Sunday mornings. That’s not just a little outside the ‘window’ it’s way outside of it. I think being in ketosis is the result of the increase in exercise I do over the program. I expected that it would result in an increase in weight loss though but it doesn’t seem to have done that.
I’m going to hit this week hard, I’ve started taking a multivitamin once a day with iron supplement, magnesium and I will take my fish oil more religiously. I can’t really back off on the exercise though. I view all of this as experimentation and fully expect to do another run of this style of diet within the next three months so I’ll be trying out some new things at that time. One thing I will need to concentrate on is getting more sleep! I will try and get to bed by 10:30pm each night and hopefully that will aid in the fat loss too. I’ll add sleep to the subheadings for the day roundups.
I feel alert and awesome, shakes are easy as pie, my thighs seem to have recovered from the run and the dancing (they were really sore yesterday) and I’m ready for another awesome week at work.
